Seeing gas prices as they are, I'd be surprised if anyone even answers for lack of the proper audience! Right now, nobody wants that kind of commute, but it certainly is an interesting question. Good luck on your search. I have only driven that route myself only a couple of times, but it's not a bad drive at all. I like the highway system here. It's concrete, which is perhaps bumpier than asphalt, but the bumps are regular versus enormous potholes. Where are you moving from?

i saw your other post somewhere else Pokemon and i have to agree with those that mentioned Mebane. i am a resident there and have MANY neighbors that work in RTP.
at the same time, depending on where exactly the job is in burlington, that is only 10-20 miles.
Mebane would give you the easiest commute to both places--about 20 minutes for each of you--depending on exact locations of each job.
we are also partly in the orange county school system. crime is everywhere
but actually much more in burlington than in Mebane.
very nice for families here and the town is really growing. its the best kept secret--but i doubt that will be for long. many people who need to be in orange county for work related reasons, live here--cause its the cheapest area in orange county to be--for now.

pokemon i will be glad to answer your question... i move to Burlington in 2004 I live off exit 143 (40/85) i work at RDU airport i drive 102 miles a day from my driveway to the parking lot at work. at $3.69 a gallon i spend $83.00 dollars a week on fuel for my Honda. the commute is an hour long. heavy traffic starts at six am, coming back home heavy traffic start by 3:30pm. when there is an accident expect to be in traffic for a long, long time. construction????? i can not even explain why they have it during in the day time... and during winter any ice or dusting of snow just stay home they have no equipment to deal with it......speed on the highway is as fast as you can go unless you get busted (unmarked cars used) ...trucks are kept on the two right lanes, caution in Alamance County getting off the highway btwn the truck unless you are on the right lane with them expect to miss your exit. now about the schools middle school and high school are great.the community college ACC is a good start to your 4 year schools...which we have plenty of with in driving distance. crime around here, do not know much. as you can read i drive more than the time i spend home. On a positive note i like B-town people are nice and very friendly.
