Default Performing Arts in Greensboro.

Plan to move to Greensboro next fall. Would like to know about theatres, symphony and museaum. Also about the west and northwest for living and access to shopping, walking and bike riding.

Community theater abounds in the Triad- In Greensboro alone we have UNCG's Taylor Theater, the Carolina theater, The Broach Theater and Triad Stage. So I'm sure you can find something to see. High Point has the Shakespeare Festival and that's all I can think of in one sitting. Tons of stuff.

Also, Winston and Greensboro have symphonies.

Depending on what neighborhood you are in, you should be close to what you need. Anywhere in Greensboro can get you to decent shopping in a relatively short time- malls, Friendly Center, Lake Jeanette area. Tons.

Greensboro is also becoming more bike/pedestrian friendly, so depending on how serious you are about biking, you can either find trails or streets for you to ride all around town.

Good luck!

These are the places I've found on the Internet:

Carolina theater Carolina Theatre
Triad Stage Triad Stage - Greensboro, North Carolina's Regional Theatre
Broach Theater index
Open Space Theater Open Space Theatre Greensboro - Home of Live Stage Performance Triad
Barn Diner Theater Dinner Theatre at The Barn... Dinner and a Broadway Play, Dining and Live Entertainment

For biking and whatnot in the Northwest, I've been to Bur-Mill Park which is a nice place.
You can find out more at City of Greensboro, NC - Official Website
There's a few other parks on that website too I think.

If any of these links don't work, put the www. in front.

As for the symphony just search for Greensboro Symphony Orchestra online.

You will find more culture in Winston-Salem...home to the NC School of the Arts. Several museums there and a neat little arts area called "DADA" (Downtown Arts District Association).

Winston-Salem had the very 1st Arts Council in the USA...and per capita...Winston-Salem residents give more money to the arts than any city in the US too. More arts & culture than even Charlotte.
