My boyfriend and I are heading South this summer to (hopefully) begin our teaching careers. We will both have our masters degrees from a private university in NY. We are hoping to find a place in Va or NC relatively close to the water, and with a younger population. We are leaning towards living in a suburban area, but are not opposed to working in urban schools. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Im in the same position as you Southbound. I just graduated from a private university in NY and am looking to relocate with my boyfriend by the summertime also. Im looking for a teaching job somewhere in Wake county but willing to work right outside of it also. My boyfriend is trying to get information on some of the fire departments down there bc thats what he was doing here in NYC.
Im looking for an area that has nightlife, and a young crowd also.
I think there are some job fairs for certain school district coming up in March and April. So you and your boyfriend should look into that.
Good Luck!

Hey Lizz143. What school districts are you looking into? I am going to a job fair in NY in March, and I know there are a lot of VA and NC school recruiters attending. It's hard to narrow down the search so I am hoping this will give me some more direction. Goodluck.
