I usually use the NC school report card site to get information on schools, but it's having problems at the moment. At GreatSchools.net, Archer got a 4 out of 10 ranking.
You can check test scores (scroll down) here:
Archer Elementary School - Greensboro, North Carolina - NC - School overview
Alderman got a 6.

It's a good site. What do they base their rating scale on, do you know? Thanks for the reply!!

The ratings are based on test results and how they compare to other schools in the state.
The school report cards' site shows test results (EOGs, etc.) and also how many acts of violence occured. Too bad the site isn't working at the moment.

Archer Elementary is right down the street from where I grew up! (I'm only 20, so it's been not too long ago) I didn't go to Archer, but knew kids that did. It didn't seem to have a bad reputation, it is a fairly average school, not exceptional, but definitely not a bad one either.
I would recommend trying to get into Murphey Academy, though. It is a magnet school and not too far from Archer (I actually went to Murphey for elementary) I didn't have to wear uniforms, but now the kids do. So if you have issues with that, I guess look otherwise.

Thanks, C! Where is Murphey located? I am guessing...it's a private school? Thanks for your help!

No problem, sushi. :-)
Murphey is actually a public magnet school. If the process is still the same as 15 years ago, you have to enter into a lottery. Murphey and Peeler Open School both have good programs.
Murphey is located on Ontario Street between Vanstory and Coliseum Blvd.
I can give you more detailed directions from the main street you live off of (for example, if you lived off of Lawndale, from there)
I don't know much about Alderman other than where it is located. It is probably a decent school, not fantastic, but not bad either.
