27410 (Greensboro, Asheboro: renting, crime, homes)

Hi my wife and I have been shopping for a home in the triad area. We have been renting in Asheboro for the past 3 years. There are some nice town homes in the Greensboro 27410 zip code which would be great because that is the zip code I work in. I have just heard so many bad things about Greensboro crime wise that i am concerned about making a home there. I'd like to hear from personal experience, not hearsay. Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I live up in the Battleground area of Greensboro and I really don't hear or see much crime up this way. I know there are some older neighborhoods that get robbed (garages, mostly) from time to time, but other than that...it's fairly tame I think. What's Asheboro like?

I have lived in the 27401 area downtown for 5 years to be exact and I have never had any problems or felt unsafe. Although i hear of crime and murders on the news, i have never experienced this. I think Greensboro in general is a safe town; however there are some areas you should probably avoid. I grew up in Asheboro, but I has been a long time since I lived there.
