Hi, you seem to know a lot about the area. You mention a bunch of areas, but being new to the area (will be when I move there in June) I don't know where any of these places are. Can you comment on the Northwest area (Northwest High School district)? I believe this would be a "burb" of Greensboro, correct? Is this a good area (I assume so since the school rates high academically)? Any recommendation for good neighborhoods within this district? Thanks.

Everything is Greensboro is a burb. Greensboro is one big unfortunatley burb.
The farther west you move the better G-boro gets. I agree w/the long winded "nj2nc2pa" poster. I used to live down W.Market and Guilford College at Addison Point. I found the neighborhood very pleasant and just far enough to be away, yet close enough to enjoy what the area had to offer.
I have nothing but great memories of Greensboro, sorry you find it disappointing.
Aren't Northeasterners great at complaining? Just kidding. I'm NOT a Southerner, but a Westerner with NY/NJ/CT relatives. I lived in Atlanta for a couple of years and used to get a kick out of the Northeasterners that complained. But you know what, they didn't like the NE either, or they wouldn't have left.
I had always heard Quality of LIfe in NC was high. But I've also heard that Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill and Charlotte, in that order, have more to offer college-age people. I saw someone above recommending Raleigh Durham to you.
I suggest Charlotte. Much larger than Greensboro & Raleigh with plenty of things to do. Charlotte has tons of young professional people. You will fit right in. Charlotte has a very large Northern population...probably equal to the entire population of Greensboro. Good Luck!
It sounds like the OP would be happier back in New York.
Actually, NYC (not low in crime) was the first thing that popped into my head about NY, but I know it's wrong to think that. lol.
I might try McLeansville, Gibsonville, or Colfax. Also, there are many areas in Greensboro that aren't that bad at all. Some parts of Greensboro are actually pretty quiet.
