I wonder if I can get an idea how much utility, power, gas and water, cost in triad for a family of four with 2600 square feet house. Thank you for your info in advance.

For us, 2 adults, 1700 sqft, electric central air, water heater...gas furnace.
Electric in the winter $30-$40/month...Summer $140...Duke Electric
Gas in the winter $140/month...Summer $12.00...Piedmont Natural Gas
Water/sewer usually runs $50 or so per quarter (I think that's what it is) in WS.

All the rates seem to be extremely competitive compared to where I lived in Ohio and Texas (and both those states were deregulated...hmmm)

Bumping this.

Thank you akwebb81!!! I think you gave a good rundown for us moving from homes that do not have electric. We have oil now. I always wondered how electric ran cost wise.

Can anyone else in the Triad answer?

Anyone with a 2400-3000 sq. foot home?

Our house has almost 2100 sq ft-and we have a LOT of trees on our property. We have heat pump. So cooling it in the summer months our electric is usually $70-80 per month. Winter is higher, usually about double that. But the last two months due to COLD weather and snow it has been a little over $200. Of course my hubby likes the house a toasty 70 degrees. We live in Davidson Co and trash removal is $63 every other month. Water averages $20 per month.

An update to my previous post from a year ago. Due to the colder winter and the fact that we have a baby in the house now, our gas bill last month was a little over $200.

Why do the water bills seem so low? That is great.

My water bill is always around $20 a month for a family of 4 too. I don't water our yard, so maybe that is why it is on the lower side? Our electric bill for a 2000 sq ft home has been extremely high this winter! We have had 2 $250 bills and I imagine a 3rd one after this month. Normally we are about $180 in the winter, $120 in the summer and $90 during spring/fall. We don't have gas. Our trash in N. Davidson County is about $45 every few months.

Be aware if you are considering High Point as parts of it are under Duke Energy & City of High Point. The co-op that High Point is with has comparetively high electric rates
