Hey, anybody out there ever visited the Domi salon in Winston or elsewhere. I've heard so many mixed reviews about them, but my hair needs first aid. I'm prone to drying and breakage and need deep conditioning, BUT the Dominican high heat method scares me and I don't want to risk any further damage? My hair is extremely thick and course, what you might call kitchin kinks in it's natural state, so it's really fragile. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I recently went to a dominican hair salon, because so many of my friends raved about how straight they are able to get black hair. That is the first and last time i will ever go to them. the amount of heat that they use is dangerous. First you sit under the dryer at the highest heat, then your hair is blow dried with heat up to 450 w by blow dryer, then they use a flat iron to finish the hair. yes, my hair was straight, but I felt terrified that my hair would fall fall from all that hair, my hari actually felt very thin, limp, fragile and damange, even though it eas straight. I would not advise AA women to go to Dominician salons, or when you go, please do not let them use so much heat on your head. You may love the idea of bone straight hair, but you are actually damaging your hair, making in thin and eventually that will lead to a lifetime of wigs, weaves and braids.

Heat is the first thing to really damage your hair. I'm caucasian, had my hair lightened and used flat-irons for a while. Now my hair feels like STRAW. Especially on the ends. I just want to get it all cut off now. Once in a while, fine, but not everyday or anything. Yikes! :O
