Awww nuts. Property taxes went up.
Well, there was a warning in the local rag and an article in the W-S Journal that detailed how disgusted people are that taxes are expected to go up while house values drop - real estate-wise. I stopped at the mailbox on the way home and saw the dreaded notification from the county tax assessor. A boost of about 3% for our Davie County house.

Is there any way for us to see where this new tax money is going to be allocated to? It is our money, so we should know.

What I wouldn't give for a 3% increase!? Last year, I got a 9% increase and an additional 11% increase on top of that 9% just on the school taxes. I believe the property taxes went up 6% last year. I'm terrified of the increase this year. Here in NY, we have a state program to reduce the amount of school taxes owed based on your income. Our new peachy governor wants to reduce or flat out get rid of the program. If he does that, my school taxes will go up a minimum of $800 without any increase!!! No one will be left in NY. We'll all be at the bankruptcy court. I'd be so happy with only 3%....

$247,000 House - Property Taxes - $8,200 a year. $5,000 school tax $3,200 county tax
Upstate NY Syracuse area
It's criminal what we pay here. Needless to say I am seriously looking to relocate.
I'd rather burn my money than give the idiots running this state any more of it.

$170000 house in Houston (Harris County), Texas runs about $6400.00 total (county, school, water, etc). Greensboro is going to be a tax break, as far as I am concerned.

Are you ready for the income taxes? And sakes taxes? Sure you're property taxes are going down, but now you're going to have income taxes. You probably won't see much of a difference.

Yeah, I am aware of the other taxes, but it is still less than the taxes here. We may not have a state income tax, but we do have sales taxes, and other taxes, etc...
All in all, it is a net decrease in taxes coming to Greensboro.

I have to agree. Even with all the taxes here it is still so much less than what we paid in Florida. And they had no state income tax. It all depends I guess on where you live as to how you view taxes. Florida taxes were high but then so was your paycheck. The pay scale here is lower so it does hurt when taxes go up.
We were fortunate this year that are taxes here went down. I hope it stays that way!

You do if you have your Land Patent properly secured. That is something that has been all but forgotten by the people of this country over the last 90+ years.
