Yeah... most won't like the good ol' Coliseum Inn. I've spent plenty of time there over the years, but it's not the type of establishment that many prefer. If you like to associate with all walks of life though, it's your place.
You might be out of luck if you're seeking walking-distance hotels.
Doubletree and Sheraton are nice, but only within walking distance if you're not drunk and not the typical suburbanite with a fright of the non-white. Less-desirable hotels are not much closer. Stay away from the Super 8 and Travelodge... unless you like prostitutes.

No -- not us. We just want a clean/safe (prostitute-free :-) place to crash with my son (he's 8) for the Dead show.

Down the street there's a Red Roof Inn and the Double Tree which is really nice. Those would be a much better alternative to the Coliseum Inn (ewwwwwww).
