my wife and i are looking into the greensboro area, we would be coming from south jersey. We are looking into a development by old south homes, some of the names of the development are Bennington, Broadstone Village, Storrington, Wynterhall, Thornton, and Covington. They alll seem to be located in the Northeast area of Greensboro. Does anyone have any input on these areas? I dont even know if the developments are completely built yet, but we are just trying to get any info any of you could provide? What is the northeast area of Greensboro like? The developments are located on McKnightville Rd, and Townsend farm drive. Does anyone know anything about these locations?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Default Greensboro

Before you look into buying a home, maybe you should rent first. Say 6 mos to a year b/c doing it this way would give you time to look around. Why rush into purchasing a home in a new town that you may not know that much about? Wouldn't want you to get stuck in an area of town only to discover another area across town that you like better. Just looking out for another south jersey ( I'm in burlington county) neighbor, thats all.

i live near McNight Mill road and those houses went up very quickly. they offer a lot of square footage for a low price, so i'm not sure how well built they are.

Second what Splinter said, lot of sq ft, but sure on quality (old South). I would look at more established neighborhoods like Sunset hills, Fisher Park, Lake Daniel, Latham Park. Many of the houses around here built during the 1950's were built very well. Plus, the more established neighborhood will appreciate more quickly than newer communities. It's a buyers market here, some good houses have been on the market for a long time.

P.S. If you are set on a new community, I would suggest 'Reedy Fork Ranch' (google it). They are built by the Starmount Corp., who builds quality construction and have the money to build a major community development. Good investment IMHO.

My husband and I spent an entire week house shopping last summer and first let me say that Old South homes are not one of the best available. Compared to some of the other builders they are lower quality. As someone else mentioned, Reedy Fork is a great area. They are expanding and if I could choose an area right now to live it would be there. The floorplans offered at the moment don't suit our style however and so we were looking at other Winsdor homes in the area. Graystone is a nice development, new, kind of out of the middle of town. I believe Windsor has a website. We are also still in contact with a couple of Windsor representatives from that area since we have not made any final decisions. I would be happy to send you the contact info for one of them if you check out the website and find something you might be interested in. Keep in mind as far as area they are building a new highway to wrap the city, some of the new home areas are going to be right off of that highway..they wont mention it to you.. and if you dont do your homework.. you wont know.. but watch out for that.
