I'm really surprised by the slow home sales in the Triad...but I guess it's like that all over. I put my house on the market about 2.5 months ago in a very desirable neighborhood. I've had lots of showings, and every comment has been positive, but no one's buying...
I've already moved to Charlotte - well, living with relatives until my house sells - so the frustration is amazing.
To quote my realtor - "I would have bet $1 million that your house wouldn't be on the market this long..."
Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm in exactly the same boat and my house is in a trendy downtown neighborhood... nothing is moving. We thought we would sell in a month or two... it's been on the market since mid-JANUARY.
It is just as bad here in my neck of the woods in Chicagoland. My house has been on the market since March, and I have had 3 showings. My home is below market value. But we have a huge development of 1300 homes. Their deal is "Buy one of our NEW Homes, and we will buy your current home" How in the World are we suppose to compete with that. We are trying to move to W/S asap. but at this rate we could be here for at least another year..
Builders of new homes have gone into overdrive anticipating the demand. I live in a new home community in Greensboro and the neighborhood has been selling quite well. This is certainly affecting the timeframe for existing homes to sell. Bottom line, supply is high right now, so demand is weakened. This won't last forever. With companies like FedEx and HondaJet moving to the area and a shrinking housing inventory as the population increases, I anticipate a sellers market in 3-5 years.
Just a few stats for you...2838 homes have sold in Guilford Co. since Januaray with an average of 89 days on the market. Average sales price is $186,158. So, with an average of 89 DOM, that's really not too bad. I know that doesn't help either of you, but hopefully you'll get some offers soon. mrbsf does make a good point concerning supply, demand & potential growth.

My house is off of Wendover, listed for $153.5K. It's a Jamestown address. 10 min. to downtown GSO.
3BR, 2.5 baths...natural area in the backyard, new ext/int paint, new carpeting, ceramic tile in master bath, new laminate floor in entryway...

My house is in Southside, in the new area right near uptown (walking distance to Natty Greene's, etc. Asking $310,000. It was built in 2004 and has many upgrades, including granite, wraparound front porch, and fenced yard.
