Is there ANY soul out there who can tell us how to get the red clay off our shoes? Every time we go down there, we have to toss another pair~ I've tried a toothbrush, nailbrush(a bit harsher), and every cleanser known to mankind...and they're still red! Idiot that I am, forgot about the rain all week, and didn't bring my "already red" ones. So my comfy, warm, great suede slip ons...are crying for help. Thanx!!!

Clorox Cleaner is good if you let it set for at least 5 minutes, but we had this problem when we went to Hawaii - too much iron in the soil! Maybe a jeweler could give us a hint - lol!!

Something I've used that takes almost anything off of anything (sharpie off of leather seats), Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Worth a shot.

My daughter said she also uses the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I have one pair of shoes that are red and ruined that I wear outside around the house and other pairs I wear out to town. It's useless to try to keep the red away. Just keep different shoes for different things.

the above poster has the right idea, get used to the notion that you now have a permanent pair of working outside shoes, this red clay is rough stuff. Or, get a pair with dark colored soles and heels, just for working outside.

The Magic Eraser works great! I use it to clean my white sneaks and it performs beautifully. Having said that, I do my very best to avoid red mud.
