Davie County economic-development officials say their recruiting efforts will get a boost from Winston-Salem-based R.J. Reynolds' donation of 360 acres of land. However, they wouldn't say whether the donation is the final piece of a package to recruit a 550-job factory and distribution center. They haven't identified the company they're recruiting, but it is believed to be Ashley Furniture Industries.

Reynolds has been doing that give away of old property for awhile. Years ago they gave way some prime property downtown to Forsyth County. Results new government building. This is a great property. Glad they could dump it, take the write off and help replace many of the jobs tobacco has left behind. Can I say I hope that people enjoy the new jobs made possible by that old tobacco money.
