Default Guilford County Speeding Ticket US 29

My son and daughter were driving home to New Hampshire last week. My son goes to college in North Carolina. They were pulled over on U.S. 29 for speeding. They were going 76 in a 55 mph section. They had just gotten on the highway, didn't think they saw a speed limit sign, but assumed it was either 65 or 70....thought they set the cruise control for 75. Anyway, obviously they were going too fast and were pulled over.

The officer gave them a court date for June. Obviously living in NH this is difficult for us to get back down to NC. Would it be best for us to hire a lawyer to represent my son? If so, does anyone have one that they would recommend? Does anyone have any experience with this and have any idea what the penalty (s) may be with this?

Thanks to anyone who can help us out!!

Chad Garrett is great. I have used his services twice with both tickets not going against me. I highly recommend him. Prices are reasonable.
