Just curious. Being a transplant to NC, I say FORsyth, but I have heard others say forSYTH. I'm sure there's no right or wrong answer, but I'm wondering if FORsyth sounds strange to a local!

Triad native here, I say close to what tasmtairy says. As the link mm34b provided states the correct pronunciation is for-SYTH. I lived in Forsyth county and we always politely corrected people when the mispronounced it. It doesn't sound odd per say because I know that's how other places pronounce it.
A friend of mine once told me a story about her cheerleading team going to camp in Raleigh. All of the staff members kept saying FOR-syth and each time the team would correct them. On the final day they said for-SYTH, all the girls cheered and the entire camp laughed.
I have found myself using both, but most of the time, for-SYTH.
