I am not from North Carolina, and am moving to the Greensboro area - 20 something professional. Can anyone fill me in on the area around Battleground Ave and Horse Pen Creek/Old Battleground Rd. I am looking at this area for a place to live and any input on safety/community/entertainment would be greatly appreciated. I do not have kids, so schools aren't really an important factor for me.

Thanks!!

My wife and I live off Battleground in Hunt's View Apartments. We've lived here for 5 years and have loved it. It's safe and fairly quiet in our complex and there's a mix of families and college students here. The management here has little parties for the complex and they are fun.

The actual area is pretty nice. Battleground and Horse Pen Creek can get a little busy, but that's the norm for Greensboro. We're close to 3 different grocery stores. There's a Walmart and Target close by. It's easy to get Downtown and the local nightlife. There's a couple of movie theaters close by. Plenty of places to eat sit down or fast food. Friendly Center is close for your shopping needs. There's a Rush and a YMCA close by that you can work out at.

Overall we like it here. It's quiet and overall not much crime. We're close to a lot of different things without being too close. If you are looking for fun places to eat or anything else let us know and we'll try and get you a list of places in the area we've been to.

Good luck and welcome to the area!

You can check out the link below which lists the top safest areas in Greensboro.

There's always a place close by to eat and you can find some nice places to shop.

I'm a real estate broker and would be more than happy to help you with your new search. It's a great time to take advantage of the buyer's market. Check out the following link and feel free to contact me with any real estate questions.

Thank you both for the information. I have never lived near an airport, how is the air traffice/noise around that area? Especially with the runways facing up towards battleground ave?

It is def tough moving to place when you dont know much about it, and I appreciate you input!!

My office building is close to Battleground, off of New Garden and I don't think that the noise from planes are an issue.

After a bit you get used to the noise, like with any city environment. Though about once a month there's always that one plane that is a little low and you hear it pretty good..lol

Even that isn't bad or bothersome. We've never been woken up from an airplane. We've never had to turn our sound up on the TV or stereo because of an airplane. It's all a matter of adjusting to your environment. I used to live off Wendover close to Lindley Park and the various sirens or car crashes seemed to be noisier then the planes are.
