Are there any eclectic / artsy neighborhoods in Greensboro, or in the Triad in general?...the type with shops, offbeat restaurants, and coffee houses, that cater to open minded types?

Also, is the Triad generally a pretty open minded area, or is it staunchly conservative?

Default Out of the box

West End in Winston would fit your description. Around the Blind Tiger in Greensboro or most streets off Spring Garden which goes through UNCG. As for strictly conservative, I think you will be pleasantly surprised that this area has some off the wall or out of the box types (used to be one myself before mature age brought me over to the dark side ).
