I just moved to the Triad a few months ago (WS to specific), and havent really gotten around to just basically riding around and checking everything out. I'm just curious if there are any areas that aren't exactly the friendliest places around here. I noticed a few pretty downtrodden looking spots heading into the city from the south (via Peters Creek), but being from a bigger city, it's kinda tough to distinguish. Streets, "sides" of town, and general areas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Well Winston like most cities have the not so good places to be - not sure what area you live in and what areas you are traveling around too , but as most places its not too hard to figure out. Then again some of the places you think are not good area to be in are the ones where you will find the most help when you need it!! So really just depends on you really!!! Feel free to email me if you have any questions about specific areas!!!

Default Opps

Ahh Peters Creek Parkway. The Academy St. area is rougher looking than it is. Continuing south you get to the Parkway Plaza area which is surrounded by working class neighborhoods. Not bad, just not rich. Washington Park is kinda behind parkway plaza and is the orginal home to the rich people and is still very nice. One block either way and you are in working class neighborhoods. Continuing south you get to the weird part of Winston. Clemmonsville Rd and Peters Creek is a changing area. 10 years ago it was ranch homes on 2+ acres and now it seems to be the hub of all new communities. 150k and up homes. The new Walmart and Lowes only show that the area is growing.
"Bad Neighborhoods" would be the Patterson Ave / Liberty St area and University between downtown and Coliseum. A few areas in the North side of town but in reality the south side west of Hwy 52 is not too bad.
