I have been doing some research on the schools in NC, I have a 6 & 3 year old. We planned to move in a year and recently find it necessary to move by this summer. My question is for anyone who is living in NC, if you could pick any school in the Triad or Triangle area for your kids which would it be? Also what neighborhood would you choose?

In the Greensboro area, the schools with the best reputations are in the northwest part of the city. Zip codes 27455, 27408, 27410 and 27407 (Adams Farm area).

Wake County or Chapel Hill (both in the Triangle).

In the Triad either Burlington schools or something that feeds into Reynolds HS in W-S.

Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools are number 1 in the state. Phenomenal schools, teachers with amazing credentials (masters, PhDs). Wake County schools are tops too, but experiencing growing pains and are having to come up with quick fix solutions like mandatory year round schools for high growth areas in the city (outside the beltine), and mobile units in other schools. We are in the process of deciding whether to move from Raleigh to Greensboro and one of the most difficult parts is leaving our wonderful elementary school (JY Joyner Elementary) and Wake County's fantastic school system. There are MANY great elementary schools in Wake County ... not limited to just a few zip code areas! Wake Forest schools are tops, Cary schools are tops, Apex schools are tops, and inside the beltine schools (Lacy, Root, Joyner) are great too. If you want more choices it sounds like the Triangle is the place for you! But I'm also certain that Triad schools are not far behind.
