Hello everyone, I'm new here.

I live in New York and I am moving to the Winston-Salem area. I moved out of NYC to a suburb for the space and for the somewhat quieter life. I want to remain in the suburbs when I move to NC, somewhere good for families, as I have children.

I am looking at a home that is northwest of the central area of Winston-Salem. On a map, it looks to be somewhere between Pfafftown, Bethania and Old Town. Can someone tell me a little bit about that area?

There don't seem to be as many people coming here familiar with the Winston area as those who are familiar with the Greensboro area. Or at least that don't come often. I wish I could help you, but I'm one of those who isn't familiar with the Winston area. Sorry.

Default Hello

Those areas you indicated are mature settled areas in the quite country side. Basically, very nice middle class areas with good churchs, schools, shopping and roads.

Concern I have is -- it might be too laid back for you - maybe not. That area is big into families enjoying sports, church activities and school activities. If you are expecting a much more lively experience, then I would not recommend that area. If you are into mellow, laid-back afternoons sipping ice tea -- then welcome to the area....

Thanks for your response, Niki. Okay, I can see why I haven't gotten any before.

Thank you also, skymax_taf. As I said in the original post, I live in a suburb now. I moved out of NYC because I wanted more space and less chaos. What you have described is exactly the kind of lifestyle that I am looking for. I'm not looking for excitement or big attractions. If I can get to the movies occasionally and there are decent stores within driving distance, I'm fine with that.
