I just moved to Greensboro from Philly,( I love it here!!) I'm looking for a good soul food or good southern food restaurants! I'm talking good southern fried chicken, okra, grits, smothered pork chops, and corn bread ( I love biscuitville!) Please let me know where the good southern food is.....I'll drive up to 45 mins for it from Greensboro, Thanks (I'll go to Winston-Salem too)

In downtown Winston-Salem (I think Trade St.) is a place called Sweet Potato. It is higher end Southern food and I love it! I have never in my whole life had better fried chicken. It is about $14 for the chicken dinner, but it is a large portion and worth the price.

it's sad that most REAL southern food can only be had in one's own kitchen these days.

i can only think of two places in winston at the moment

Old RIchmond Grill - lunch buffet (just west of winston on hwy 67)

and Bell Brother's cafeteria - near the winston airport

That is sad that there aren't many authentic mom and pop restaurants left anymore. The ones you mentioned sound like the food is so good it needs to be served with a angioplasty.

I am also looking to relocate to greensboro within the next year. Could you please update me on the following: school districts, crime rate, rent/mortgage, churches, hair salons, and night life for mid twenties single african americans.

You're a few years too late - it was Robinson's in downtown Greensboro.
Try Bell Brothers.

Hayble's Hearth in Greensboro on Spring Garden street is still open, as is Fire Mountain buffet in Kernersville. Both are pretty darn good. I used to go to the Grove Street Cafe when they were open but alas, they are gone.
