I'm in a posting mood tonight

Well I like to try the little mom and pop shops- mostly because I grew up in a family owned business, and I myself after spending a lot of (great) time in corp. have a small biz. So I like to give the "little guy" (being one) a shot. I find good small biz more so than finding duds (although I think I've developed an I for good small biz- ones that go over board on customer service). Anyway there was a great little eatery in Monroe, near Union County buildings. The street it was on actually looked pretty deserted, but may be it was the time of day (about 2pm). Anyway, my daughter and I had a GREAT time there, good food, and good company, with talked with the owner for quite some time, and the owners daughter came out and hung out with my duaghter. They colored the little coloring books resturaunts typically have for kids.

So looks can be deceiving, it really didn't look like much (if you are used to going into a chain resturaunt), but that was clearly a bias on my part. The only downside is that the cook left around 4:3pm, and when I came back with my wife they were closed- LOL

if you live anywhere between "Friendly Center" shopping center and downtown in Greensboro you will have no problem. I live in Westerwood and can think of at least 4-5 Starbucks in addition to several other coffee places and lots of places to get sushi - including a new club downtown that is slated to open this spring or summer, called Sushi Rox I think. We aren't the boonies - we have a little culture and coffee here. You really may want to give our local independent coffee shops a try. The Green Bean downtown, Tate Street Coffee near UNCG are my top two.
