I have 3 wks to move and have no clue. I think I will be most comfortable in the city rather than to rural. Where can I find an apt in 600 range-What are utilities like. I can't figure out what I can afford if I have to worry about water, electric, gas etc. Also someone told me if its a gated complex-theres a reason Are they usually in a bad area, or is it alot of extra money for rent that you don't need to spend?

Im single -late 40's don't want to be around senior citizens just yet-or too many college students

Welcome to the Triad!

Just off the top of my head, I'd probably recommend Brassfield Park or Lincoln Green apartments. They're in areas with good access to shopping, restaurants, etc. but still not too far from downtown.

If it's feasible, I would probably come down and try to make do with a hotel room for a few weeks while you find something permanent. There are simply too many areas of the city to get a good idea just from perusing the internet. If you did that, you might be able to find a gem in one of the more established neighborhoods in Greensboro, like a duplex in Fischer Park. There's also some nice condos near Irving Park.

If you want something less cookie cutter, I'd look on Craigslist and at the classifieds online at the News & Record's website.

Most apartment complexes in Greensboro, especially newer ones, are all electric. Water/sewer and trash are sometimes included, depending on the complex. Electric, which is with Duke Energy, usually is not included.

In my experience, most of the gated apartment communities in Greensboro are located in nice areas where they're not needed. They don't really do much in the way of security anyway, but the apartment complex gets to ask for more in rent for the "luxury" of living in a gated community. I wouldn't bother with it in most instances.

Happy house hunting. And welcome!
