Guys,

I will be visiting in a few weeks both for vacation purposes and to scout around the various neighborhoods in the area and need somewhere to stay beside a Motel/Hotel that is asking for "break your wallet" prices. I checked hotels.com and am looking at some of the reviews of the cheaper hotels and get really turned off. Therefore, I would like to know of any recommendations from anyone out there in "Forum Land" that will not break my wallet, nice and clean for kids.

I chose Greensboro because I heard that it is centrally located between Charolette and Raleigh ..... am I correct? That way I can check out both places without driving for more that 2 hours in either direction. Any input will be greatly appreciated here. Thanks

hello, we have stayed for extended periods in both Winston Salem and Greensboro at the Residence Inn (Marriott) in both places. The one in W-S is a little newer, but both were comfortable, full cooking kitchen, small livingroom area and complementary breakfasts. the price was usually just under $100 a night with a AAA or similar discount. good luck!

If you're looking for the anti-hotel, try Andrea's Troy-Bumpas Inn (B&B). John and Andrea are fine hosts and that's where we try to stay at least part of the time when we're there.

Extended Stay is running a special. You can get a coupon online for savings off the rate. $20 for one night, more for longer stays. And that's after any association discount you might apply.

You may want to check out Travel, Airfare, Flights, Hotels, Rental Cars, Vacation Packages, Cruises at Priceline (broken link) I usually stay in a sweet for about $38.00 per night and they look like nice apartments.

Good luck!

I always like Amerisuites and there is one really close the mall on Wendover. Very convenient to the highway.

Hawthorn and Hampton are also very nice hotels, but I am not familiar with the Greensboro facilities
