If you go 9 miles per hour over the speed limit, will it increase you insurance points?

I know for out-of-state it doesn't. I got hit in a speed trap in Cheraw SC and it didn't.

Don't quote me on this, since I only looked this up 4-5 yrs ago, but an under 10 in state under 55 speed limit didn't, if it was your only thing.

Google search's are great...

If you were going over 55mph when stopped, then 3pts.
If you were going under 55mph when stopped, none.

These are for your actual driving points, not insurance points. Every insurance company calculates points differently so it may be 1 point, 3 points, 5 points, who knows.

If you are concerned about points and insurance going up, it definitely helps to hire a traffic lawyer. You probably received several mailings from traffic focused attorneys after your ticket. Call one. They will be able to reduce the ticket if it has points to none, worth the money.
