I am considering a move to W-S, for a job that it looks like I will be offered within the next month. I am also considering my first home purchase--1) because I can afford to buy in the W-S area (as opposed to where I currently live) and 2) I want to take advantage of the first-time homebuyer federal tax credit.

At any rate, being a possible new home buyer as well as a possible new home buyer in the W-S area, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on property taxes based on locations around W-S (or any additional taxes, county, etc) that I might not be aware of. Are there certain areas (such as downtown W-S) that might have higher taxes? Forsyth County as a whole?

Thanks for your help!

Forsyth County > Tax Administration > Tax Rates

Generally speaking, the further you get away from the city where you might have well & septic and have to pay for your own trash pick up, the cheaper the taxes. If you need help figuring out what to do with these tax rates, just reply here. Just multiply the rate times every 100 you plan on spending ($200,000 / 100 = 2,000 & 2,000 X 1.1415= $2,283 annually in taxes).
