For years my mother has had nasty water...some days clearer than others. We just thought it was because her house was old and the plumbing was bad.

This past summer the plumbing was all replaced...and it was needed. That old galvanized, rusty stuff was replaced w/ the white piping. And the piping under the ground from the water meter to the house was also dug up and replaced...so all new water lines.

Recenlty the water has been dirty again. How, I think so I talk to a neighbor this morning and she says she's been complaining to them for years about her water and she's been buying bottled water for 16 years now....she won't drink it.

SHOCKER!

I've had no clue.

My neighbor says the water company comes out and says theres nothing wrong with the water.... but that's kind of sneaky as the smelly stuff comes ONLY when the water HASN'T been turned on in a day or two.... so them showing up in the afternoon doesn't do any good.

Anyone else have them and have water issues?

Or does anyone know what the proper procedure is to get a company the company to fix the problem?

The company is called Davidson Water out of Welcome NC so it would be Davidson County, nestled between Greensboro/High Point, and Winston-Salem.

Sorry I didn't clarify that in my post.

Weird...that is the water we have and I haven't had such a problem. I use a high quality water filter through our fridge for drinking and I think it tastes great. I tend to be sensitive to water's taste too. Last month I kept thinking our water tasted like chlorine and sure enough our filter light was on. I always feel tap water tastes like chlorine no matter where I have lived and in other states, but it has always come out clear here in N. Davidson county.

My water also comes from Davidson Water (county water) and it comes out fine, too. I've lived other places without chlorinated water, so I tasted & smelled the chlorine at first, but must have gotten used to it over the past few years. If two people on the same line have a problem, and you've replaced all your own plumbing, it definitely sounds like a problem somewhere else down the line. Talk to the rest of your neighbors and see how many others have the same problem. Then call one of the TV stations and tell them the story, maybe they can get some action started.

I wonder if there is a simple break/crack or whatever in the line just up the street...maybe it picks up dirt and debris....especially during freezing weather when the dirt expands/contracts.

I guess if I find out which way the water flows underground...start 'up' stream and knock on some doors....if neighbor after neighbor say 'yes'...then they start saying 'no'....then we know where the problem lies underground.

So far 2 other houses have this problem but I don't know if they are up or down stream from me.
