I'm not gonna sit in the frigid cold for days again in the Triad after a major ice storm. With forecasts calling for a chance for an ice storm this weekend, I am trying to make hotel reservations before they are booked solid. Anyone know which hotels have generators?

Well that one sounds expensive. I lost 2 days of work with the last one, now it looks like maybe Fri and Sat again

I haven't lost power yet though, keeping fingers crossed.

For the cost of 4 days in a hotel, you can almost purchase a small generator that you can use over and over.

Here is a 3200 watt unit at Sears for $379.00!

I have a 6500w generator that runs almost the whole house like normal that cost $850.00. (You don't need one that big to get by) I have it hooked into the main panel, but you can get away with extention cords and splitters. When the power goes out, between that, the wood stove and wireless 3g it's like nothing changed.

If you buy a generator, make sure it is outside when it is on. Don't put it in the basement!
The toxic fumes it produces will kill you in an enclosed space.

Also, don't let the snow cover it. Toxic fumes can backfire into the home.

So far so good. It looks like just rain in the Greensboro area. Hopefully no downed trees and power line this time. Stay warm!
