I am from W/S and live here still. Love it and am content. I don't care for Greensboro (Gboro) personally but to each his own.

My husband and i lived in Columbia, SC from May '99 - Aug. 2000. Yes, it is HOT, rain is like monsoons that come up suddenly then stop abruptly, and overall I disliked the city. I met nice people at work but overall the city was too different than what I was used to here in W/S. We visited Charlestown (too touristy) and Greenville/Spartanburg area. If I ever had to live in SC again, I would only do it if it was the Greenville area. It is very similar to W/S in my opinion and I enjoyed my visits there.

superocean,
we moved here from NYC 6 months ago and chose WS because of the Whole Foods. we have also been excited to discover:
1. WF prices are less here than other WF market locations
2. krankies werehouse farmers market may-nov. / selling local org. meat and veggies
3. reynolda farm market in WS / selling local org. meat and veggies
4. mostly local in lewisville / selling local org. meat and veggies
we are very into cooking and have been delighted with WS, plus the weather and soil are great for growing your own vegetable garden! good luck...
