Summerfield is a very nice area of Guilford County. As I understand it, Greensboro has tried to annex it several times but the locals have always fought and won. It seems there is a strong sense of community there.
Depending on the part of Summerfield you are looking at, a commute into Greensboro can be tedious. If a commute is what you will have. There is quite a bit of commercial/ retail in northwest Greensboro, so shopping, etc. is convenient.
If schools are a factor, I have heard only good things about the lower grades, and mixed reviews about the middle/high school levels. I think there is a local newspaper published; don't know the name of it, but you can do a search. I think it is only weekly, but it might be informative.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO. MOST USEFUL

This all depends on WHERE in Greensboro you want to go. For the most part, it's just a drive up hwy 220 from most places in Summerfield.

The Elementary schools are good. The middle School situation has improved since the opening of the brand new Northern Middle School this year (the most "green" school in the whole USA). Northern High School opens suposedly in January, so that should take some of the overcrowding off of Northwest High.

It's called the Northwest Observer (The publisher lives across the street from me).
For the most part, Summerfield has no restaraunts. You'll have to go across the border into Greensboro for that. You see, most of Summerfield has no water/sewer, it's mostly private wells and septic systems. Most restaraunts require a sewer line to carry waste away, so all you can have is something like a Subway that has a low sewage removal requirement.
What kind of info are you looking for about Summerfield? I'm a resident and can answer more specific questions.
Keep in mind that the Summerfield zip code crosses two counties.
Guilford county side is officially Summerfield and more expensive than the Rockingham county side. The taxes are MUCH lower in Rockingham county and a bit more rural.
