Hi!

We are putting our house on the market within the next two weeks and then moving to Greensboro end of June.

I have a 10 year old daughter that is dyslexic and has had in class support here. Can anyone tell me what type of support does the elementary schools provide for learning disabilities?

Also when does the school year start for the public schools.

Any suggestions on neighborhoods?

We have 5 children ages 19, 10, 7,6,4...What's fun for the younger ones to do in the area?

OK...I've gotten that much out. Thanks!

Diane

I don't know what specific services the school system offers, but you should be able to find out here. (http://www.gcsnc.com/depts/EC/ec_home.htm - broken link)

Here's (http://www.guilford.k12.nc.us/information/pdfs/1011calendar.pdf - broken link) a link to the 2010-2011 academic calendar. August 25th is the first day of school.

As far as neighborhoods go, you'll need to provide more information. What are you looking for in terms of housing, pricing, etc.

Greensboro is a great place to raise a family and kids of all ages will find plenty to do. Great parks and recreation facilities. They can of course join a myriad of sports teams. The Natural Science Center is always a good time, even for us bigger kids. UNCG has a great summer camp program called All Arts Sciences and Technology. I'm sure they wouldn't mind spending time at Emerald Pointe, one of the largest waterparks in the country, celebration station. And on and on and on.

Good luck on the move. And welcome.

Hi Diane,
I'm originally from Millburn. I've been in Greensboro for twenty years and love it here. I'd be happy to answer any of your questions about the area. PM me.
Jeff
