The 14th annual Multi-cultural Festival is happening this Saturday @ Finch Park in Lexington from 10:00-5:00. (Rain date is Sun. 12-5)
It is tons of fun and is always a surprise to me to see all the diversity in such a small town. Lots of great performers (my favorites are the Native American Pow-wow dancers and the Chinese Dragon dancers).
They have it setup in villages: Asian village, African American village, European village, Central/South America village. Might be more areas, but that is what I remember. Lots of demonstrations, information, and crafts for kids.
Last year there were free inflatable rides for kids and other kiddie rides (train).
Great food vendors too. I had Cambodian food last year that was great.
It is worth checking out esp. if you haven't been before or haven't visited Lexington. It would give you a good feel for the people and the area.
There is parking at 2 of the shopping plazas in town with free shuttle bus service to the park; it is impossible to get a spot in the park. One plaza is @ the new Save-a-lot & Roses plaza on Raleigh Rd. not far from the I-85 & Bus 85 exits (the halfway point between those exits). You could google save a lot for their address.
