we were scheduled to move out june 10...we turned in a verbal notice over the phone the lady called and told us she needs a written one in order to move out on our date and to have it to her by the afternoon which we did. they sent us their accpetance letter and we turned it in on time. we did not see that she changed our move out date to june 26 and they are saying we have to pay for the month of june which is $600 instead of the remaing of our pro rated rent which would be 200...what can we do????!!!!

Read your lease, that is the first step to finding out your available recourse's. Find out what the lease stipulates concerning the requirement for written move out notice. 30 day? 60 day?

If you stipulated your original move out date in your written notice I would call the mgmt. company about the date change. I was a property manager for 6+ years and we always ask for a notice in writing. If your lease states you must give a 30 day written notice then this would be the reason for the date change, however, if the company has an active waiting list they could possible consider giving you the original move out with the $200 pro-rate. All companies handle things differently but it never hurts to ask. Good luck
