The thread title says "in Greenville." Numbers 3, 6, 7, and 8 are NOT in Greenville.

I agree completely, g-man430. Greenville's location near several great places to go for day-trips is fantastic, however if someone is in town visiting to get a feel for this city, it will hardly do any good to drive or fly here and then travel more than 2 hours away to visit another city - unless the individual is planning to explore the Southeast around the tri-state region (SC/NC/GA), in which case Greenville would make a great place to base their excursions from. Also, I keep reading from the same member that Bistro 107 is the best place ever, but honestly having dined there myself, I cannot place it on any level above several of the best fine restaurants in Greenville. You can find more than enough great fine dining in downtown Greenville alone to satisfy a month-long vacation in the Upstate. I am not claiming that Bistro 107 is not good, because it is very nice, just like many of the other very nice restaurants in Greer and Greenville.

There are several other places in Greenville proper, but having lived the life I have been fortunate enough to live I tend to think of Mauldin,greer,simpsonville....as a part of Greenville. Also being a Classically Trained French Chef(After selling one of my companies, I treated myself to a Classic French Education for fun, at The Leading French School in America)I tend to look for more that the average consumer, andPolo at Bistro 107 is one of the few local Chefs which have pleased my palate, But I also loved Ta-boo. Welcome to Bistro 107!
And yes if someone is flying in to Greenville for a trip, I would sugest a different set of ten, But The question was TEN things for a new resident!
1 La Bastide Inn as the perfect relaxing Stay with Great dining
2 Stroll Main street
3 Vist The Beacon for the experience
4 Dinner at Bistro 107
5 Greenville Museum for a great collection of wythe
6 Dinner at Chophouse '47
7 Golf at the Cliff's and take in the view
well that is 8 things to do... on a long weekend that is more than plenty. But if that Nippon center was still here I would have to go there for tea too. What ever did happen to that place Skyliner?
And No Biltmore is in Asheville, Not that I brought it up,so I don't know why you are mentioning it? But it is worth the drive!
