A seat belt ticket does not affect your license points.

A friend of ours got a "cruising" ticket a few weeks ago. He passed thru the town 3 times within two hours. It started off as a $1000. fine that was reduced to $75., but still ! So much for trying to find a parking spot, eating dinner, and then leaving Greenville. This is not some teenagers driving up and down Main St., this is a 40 year old man and woman trying to enjoy all Greenville has to offer. Shame on you Greenville for your unwelcoming law.

I find that extremely hard to believe.

There are only 2 signs that state the cruising rule, he had to go back to find where they were posted. But it is a real law and he had to go to court to get it reduced.

That's bad. Things like that need to be enforced in a common-sense way. You KNOW when someone is cruising. I would think the cops would, too. Sorry your friend had that experience!

The worst part is that he drove thru Greenville on his way home from Wade Hampton Blvd., got all the way back into Easley on 81, stopped to get gas, and then decided to go back and grab some dinner. After an hour long dinner, he got pulled over on his way back out of town. He showed his gas receipt to the judge, which is why they reduced it.

Not that I'm disputing what happened to your friend, but I see FAR more "older" people doing annoying cruising up and down main street than teenagers. I'll see the same guy with his bluetooth headset on driving a convertible corvette back and forth up and down main street trying to show off - it's pretty stupid and it happens all the time (not the same guy, just random people) and is what causes so much traffic on main street friday and saturday nights. I'm glad these people get tickets.
