Greenville Mall was another recent loss in that department, but fortunately there are plans for a much better center to come called, Magnolia Park Town Center. (see above)

Wow, g-man, you've done it again! Thank you so much for this great thread! Greenville looks like it has everything that we could ever want or need. In looking through your photos of downtown Greenville you posted in another thread, we were wondering if there is any good parking there; i.e., a centralized parking lot or garage? There don't seem to be a lot of cars on the streets.

There are a number of parking garages and lots in downtown Greenville. There is also free street parking, but it can be challenging trying to find a space. Parking is free in several of the garages on the weekends, and one near Falls Park is free at nights as well. You can almost always easily find a parking place if you are willing to pay. There are a few events during the year where it becomes more of a challenge.
Most of the lots are a flat $5 in the evenings. Some of the lots close to the Peace Center or the BiLo Center charge more than that, but after spending a great deal of time in NYC the past few months, parking in Greenville seems very easy and reasonable indeed!

Downtown has been redeveloped with pedestrian traffic specifically in mind, so most of the parking is located in garages or on lots off of the main retail corridors.
For more information, check out the official website for the City of Greenville and you'll find a nice interactive downtown parking map.

Thank you, RC, and a HUGE thanks to you, Skyliner, for the link. Greenville seems to be so well organized! I can't wait to test drive the city next year and I just know I'll love it!

Apple Store will be coming to Magnolia Park Town Center. It will open in late 2008.

if they build, people will come. Does money run out?
I admit, I am still interested in coming back south to G'vl this time instead of Charlotte but I am just amazed at the amount of retail. There seems to be about 4 times as much as there is other cities its size. There has been target areas like downtown that have been made to be cozy and walking friendly and isolated areas that have remained green but is there any concern about a saturation point or a place of no return where G'vl will no longer have a good quality of life? Shopping needs to be spotted around the city but it seems just Woodruff Rd alone can supply the entire city. I'm not sure I understand the supply & demand. Do people shop all day long and can everyone afford to do that much shopping and eating out?
I must admit that for the amount and size of stores, G'vl has this unique way of making people feel warm & fuzzy about it. And for all thats there it still seems like a very nice city. Just baffled at the demand
