Default If you're in Greer or Taylors and like Pita House, there's a new restaurant for you

A new Lebanese restaurant has just opened up in a small stip mall on Wade Hampton in Greer. My husband ran into get a menu and the food looks fantastic; kabobs, pita, hummus, falafel, etc; we haven't been there yet but can't wait to go.

As SophiasMommy said, it has a banner that says Lebanese Restaurant and I too went and got a menu and the selections look good. I can tell you it's on the right side of WH going east, right after you pass the old hospital, but well before Hwy14/Main St and is right next to the fish market, on the right hand side of the mall, at the very end. I haven't eaten there as of yet but will do so soon. I can tell you the owner is Lebanese from Lebanon, so you'll definitely will be eating authentic Lebanese food if you go.

DISCLAIMER: I have to admit, I know George (the owner) and his wife Sonia personally. I've eaten Sonias cooking before, and it was delicious. I'm sure George will do her proud. He's a really nice guy and I'm going to bet the food is going to be good there too. I wish them a lot of luck. It will be nice to have a place closer to home. DH cooks Lebanese food at home but we don't do falafel, shwarma or fried kibbe at home, so it's nice to have a place close to home when we want that to go to eat.

FYI- I asked him if he will be bringing in the thin pita bread we are use to buying in SOFLA to sell in the store, and he said yes! That would be icing on the cake! If you're Lebanese, or ME, you know what I'm talking about. This is not like the pita at Pita House, which is thicker. I do make pita bread, but DH likes the thin kind best, says he eats less Yeah, right! This is a staple item in our home, among with tahini, garlic, chick peas and lemons.

I will say, that even though I do know them personally, I will post and honest and true opinion of whatever I do get to try at the restaurant. Anyone who knows me knows how I am. If I don't like something, I will tell you. If you don't want an honest opinion, don't ask for my opinion at all. I won't lie just to be nice, and I don't try to hurt someone's feelings (or pride). I am not two-faced and won't say something I don't mean. I don't mean to hurt feelings and I hope no one takes it in such a way, but to tell someone something positive when you know you are not being truthful is not being helpful at all. A good restaurant owner knows this and welcomes the opinions given-the good, the bad AND the ugly. It's what makes a (good) restaurant better, I think.

Of course, you also learn you can't please everyone, and some people just live to complain - you get to know those types as well, but you also know when someone is being sincere and appreciate the feedback given.

Would definitely like to hear from others who get to try it before myself.

Just to add some further directions:

It's the strip mall on the corner of Morrow Street on Wade Hampton. Going north, it's one block past the old hospital on the right.

I'm very excited about trying this new place. I live on Morrow st, so I drive past it almost every day.

Finally tried it tonight. my husband had been begging me for a while, so tonight while I was shopping at WalMart I called him and asked him what he wanted me to bring him home to eat and he said, "That Lebanese place" so I finally gave in. He ordered a chicken shishtawook wrap and a feta, onion and mint pie. The owner was very friendly and there was one other couple in the place when i went into pick up the order. It looked like they had the chicken kabob platter and it looked really good, although the portions were a little small, but not too bad. I talked to them and they said that their food was delicious.

When the food was ready the owner gave me an extra feta pie because the first one was ripped. I thought that they would look like spanikopita, but they actually looked like empanadas and were very tasty. The chicken was marinated broiled chicken tenderloin with tomato, onion, radish and pickles and garlic sauce and my husband asked for hot sauce on the side. It was wrapped, or rolled to be exact in a thin pita. He absolutely loved it and devoured it in about two minutes.

So, this place is well worth it, the food was really fresh and flavorful. He wants to try the hummus and the filet mignon kabob wrap next time. This is right up there with Pita House and it is a pleasant surprise to see such a unique ethnic restaurant in Greer. Please everyone give it a try, the food is really tasty.

Would someone please share a personal comparison between this brand new place, the well known Pita House, and the lesser known JuJu's on Woodruff Road?
