Moving to Greenville soon. What are some good areas to live that will provide easy access to downtown, biking trails/routes, good shopping and restaurants, things to do, art classes and other learning opportunities, parks?

Default neigborhoods

North Main, Augusta Rd, Alta Vista, Parkins Mill, just to name a few. It really depends on your budged and the size home you are looking for. You may want to go to www.journalhomes.com to look at specific neighborhoood info.

For learning opportunities, you might want to check out the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Furman University.

It depends upon what you mean by 'active', and what you mean by easy access to downtown. Travelers Rest is a small community about 10 miles north of Greenville. It offers easy access to the mountains, where there is a lot of hiking, and is the northern terminus for the Swamp Rabbit Trail, which downs through Greenville and beyond. For shopping, restaurants, and other city amenities, you'll need to head down town for the most part.

As for parks, there is Paris Mountain, handy to Travelers Rest and Greenville, and then along Hwy 11, there are a number of parks 1/2 hour to an hour away. There is also a beautiful linear park that runs along the Reedy River in down town Greenville, as well as a number of other city parks.

Furman University is in between Travelers Rest and Greenville.

Excellent suggestion, and The Woodlands at Furman would provide a fantastic home with great access to the beautiful campus and the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
