Dickens of a Christmas is this Tuesday. Is anyone else planning on going?

It is such a lovely event.

I've never heard of it. Can you tell us more about it? It sounds like something I'd be interested in!

^That's a pretty good description.

It's a lot of fun. The people who 'put it on' (who sing and stuff) are dressed up in Victorian Era costume and there are a lot of different musical groups. There's everything from high school concert and jazz bands to the traditional Christmas Choir Carolers.

It's one of the only times during the year when I actually go downtown. It is quite good fun.

It's one of the best downtown events in Spartanburg. It's a shame that the weather looks so bad for tomorrow night. It will be tough to take the young'uns out in a downpour. I hope the weatherman is wrong!

This event has been canceled due to inclement weather.

If you like watching local residents dressed in Victorian-era clothing (using disgustingly fake British accents) and various local musical groups, then you would probably enjoy it. There isn't much else for adults to do though, other than walk around and sing. The "main event" is a tree lighting ceremony. In my opinion, ADOAC needs more variety to be worth traveling from across the Upstate to attend.

Tree lighting ceremony tonight, starting at 6:30. Actual lighting will be closer to 7. No need for Skyliner to attend, which means a better view for me!

No need to bash a fun family event.

I've always enjoyed going and it's a quite pleasant evening if you're in the area.
