I am not sure if you are still checking this thread, but we go to The Vine Community Church in Taylors (right next to Springwell) and we love it! It is a smaller church, about 300 people. It is biblically sound, the worship team is fabulous, and the pastor is wonderful! For more information visit the website at: The Vine Community Church
Hope to see you there!

I highly recommend that you check out Southside Fellowship. They have two of the best teaching pastors I have ever experienced and a great worship team. Lots of young people as well. You can download some sample sermons off their website and take a listen if you want. I don't think it's okay to provide a link but I'm sure you can find it with a Google search.

Plug for NewSpring
I just want to mention NewSpring Church for anyone reading this thread who is willing to visit a large church and interested in dynamic, challenging teaching. The mussic is awesome, too! We've loved it since they opened the Greenvillle campus! Videos of past messages are available on their website if you want to check it out.

Been going there since they opened up in Greenville. Yes, the preaching is good, but there's such an emphasis on being a "trendy hipster', that a lot of the message is lost. Honestly, just as an unscientfic study check out the Bible to trendy coffee drink ratio. It's absurd; almost 85% of the congretation has either a frappuchino, latte', muffin or something "trendy coffee bar" related, yet only 25%, tops actually carry a Bible into church with them. To me that really shows how off the emphasis is. Plus, Perry preaches out of anger and unforegiveness sometimes.
Overall, the idea of New Spring is good, but they're going to decide who the want to serve; God or this world, 'cause the Bible clearly teaches that you can't serve both and NS hasn't gotten that message yet, imho. That being said, I'll probably be there Sunday but my wife and I are praying that the Lord will lead us to a church without compromise. Sonrise

I have never been to New Spring, so I don't have a dog in the fight. With that said, your post sounds very judgmental and narrow-minded. I don't see what the problem is with a church making coffee or a latte available. People obviously enjoy that, as evidenced by the number of people in the congregation you have observed drinking one. In addition, what's the problem with people not having a Bible with them at church? Isn't that a personal decision? I'm sure they put Bible verses on the screen for people to see, so it's not like someone is lost without their Bible.
Shouldn't we be thankful that those people are attending church, rather than nit-picking over minor details like who is drinking coffee and whether someone has a Bible with them?!? The case could be made that the time you spent observing everyone else there was time you should have been using focusing on your own worship experience with God.
People have different preferences when it comes to church, and what they think it should be. That's why it is great that there are different types of churches for different types of people. But in the end, we are all Christians and we shouldn't allow those differences in preference to divide us.
