Default Union County SC

Hello,
We are moving in August and seriously considering the Union, SC area. From what I can tell from statistics on the internet the schools are decent and the homes priced attractively. It looks like we will have to drive between 35 - 55 minutes to jobs in Chester (which we have ruled out for moving to due to sub-par schools) if we stay around the city of Union or perhaps Carlisle on the east side of the county.

Anyone out there have advice or insight into Union County?
Thanks in advance.

We have lived here since May of this year. Originally from the Midwest, but lived in Spartanburg for one year. When we moved here we were told that Union was very small and that we would probably prefer Spartanburg better. There are benefits to living in Spartanburg if you like city life, we actually prefer quiet small town life. The people in Union are very friendly and it seems as if everyone knows everyone. There are a decent amount of businesses so you can usually find whatever you need here in town. Our daughter is not school age yet, but we haven't heard anything negative about the schools. Good luck with your move!

Union County is a good place - don't let the snobs in Greenville convince you otherwise. You're not going to find a lot of shopping or dining options but it's very quiet and a good place to raise a family.
