Looking to purchase a home in the Greenville area and would like to know if there are any good Lebanese or Middle Eastern restaurants in the area. I found one on Google called Ju Ju's - was wondering how the food is there, if anyone knows.

Any place to buy freshly made pita bread in town? I make my own, but when I run out I need a place to buy some in a flash. Are there any Middle Eastern grocery stores in the area? I read there is a large Lebanese community in Greenville, so I'm hoping!

If anyone has any suggestions on places to check out my next trip up there (while looking at homes) or when we dom make the move, please post them.

Thanks for your input and suggestions!

I haven't tried JuJu's yet, but you will probably enjoy Pita House. It is a well-known place on South Pleasantburg Drive, near Greenville Technical College. People come from far away to eat there. Another very good Persian restaurant is Pomegranate on Main.

Pita House on South Pleasantburg is an independently owned restaurant (probably family run) and it's good for the traditional "meat and three", Mediterranean style. They also have a small grocery store attached to the restaurant.

I have had excellent falafel at Ju Ju's, as well as good tabbouleh and hummus. It's a tiny restaurant in a strip mall - there isn't much in the way of atmosphere, but the food is made fresh and the place is run by a very pleasant older couple who take a lot of pride in their work. In the interest of full disclosure, I once had a mediocre meal there when they were busy with a large luncheon, so I'd avoid going when it's busy.

Pita House on Pleasantburg is a Greenville institution. It has been there for years, and is visited by Greenville residents as well as those who are visiting the area. You owe it to yourself to try it! The owners are really nice. The market in the back is really neat, too.

Thanks for all the replies and "reviews" I appreciate the time. I'll definitely check out both places when I get back up there (which can't be soon enough for me).Does anyone who's gone to Pita Grill remember seeing if they sell fresh bread? Hoping to find a place that has not only bread, but tahini and a few other food items we use at home all the time. If anyone thinks of any other places in or around the Greenville area, please let me know. Thanks!

The Pita House does sell fresh bread. It's softer thicker pita bread than I'm used to elsewhere. The market there is great, full of spices, lentils, different flours, feta, imported food, and much more.

There is (or was) a Persian restaurant on Pelham Road called Kabob House. I never tried it, so if it is still open, perhaps someone reading this thread will check it out. They have a partial halal menu.

Edit: Apparently this one is now closed unfortunately.

Thanks BuckyeMary - glad to know they sell bread - we're use to thin bread as well, but "beggars can't be choosers" if we get in a bind. I may find myself making more pita than before once we get up there.

Glad to know they have other ME foods there, though, when we finally do make the move, I think we'll have to make a run to the stores and stock up before we leave.

Thanks again to all who reply!

JuJu's is terrible, my wife got a falafel wrap there and there about 5 pieces of falafel on there about the size of marbles and the quality of the food was mediocre at best....go to Pita House...
