She couldn't get it cancelled if it punched her in the face. Her lawsuit is nothing more than a nuisance. The court system won't side with it either due to state law stating that there is no conflict of interest and that the DPC decision can't be changed.

Well, blame it on the economy. Seems like everyone blames everything on it. So why not?

Why not? Because it's Hughes, financing is in place from GNMO along with TD Bank, general construction contractor has been selected, and tenants have signed on.

Who knows what the real hold up is? Nothing we can do about it so really there's no point in worrying about it. It will happen when it happens. Lots of projects all over the country have had financing, GC's, and tenant agreements and fallen apart or be placed on the slow track for whatever reason. It seems to be the way builders are building nowadays.

Well, now I can say thank goodness Borders never came to this site: Borders closing signals change in bookselling industry - USATODAY.com Bookstores are going the way of the dinosaur and Dodo bird. The chances of ever landing one downtown now or in the future are slim to none. The demand just isn't there anymore. Oh and I own an iPad so i'm doing my part. Don't hate: Apple Shares Jump After Record IPhone, IPad Sales Let Profit Top Estimates - Bloomberg Too bad Greenville isn't large enough for two of their "official" stores yet as this downtown site would be perfect for one.

I think we'll have bookstores in the future the way we have record stores now. Most cities would have one for those who prefer that format, but by and large the masses will have moved to digital books/music. Of course, the largest retail chain of bookstores is heavily invested in ebooks, so that may allow Barnes & Noble more staying power than Borders and (probably) Books-A-Million.

I think Books A Million and Barnes & Noble will be here for the long haul.. at least another decade, and for two different regions there is basically two different niches left for book stores... One as a gathering place for the "academia" Barnes & Noble and the other as a basic raw book store with discounted prices, Books A Million, as long as both these stores dig there heels in and recognize who they cater to, accept the decreased revenues but streamline there business models they will be fine. Borders couldn't keep an identity that worked in the new business cycle so they went away.
