Noticed Geoff Hart (Sports Director at WYFF Channel 4) doing the morning news this morning. Then, on its Facebook page, WYFF says, "Gordon (Dill) will anchor the weekend morning show with Myra Ruiz and report during the week."

Was this previously announced, as they usually do when a change is coming up (like when Beth Brotherton left & came back from maternity leave, etc)? I sure don't remember if it was. Still don't know if Hart is still Sports Director either. Interesting happenings, right on the heels of WYFF's President/Gen. Mgr. Michael J. Hayes leaving for Pittsburgh.

Geoff's move was announced on Friday's 11pm broadcast. I didn't listen very well but I think he is done with sports. He said this way he'd get to spend time with his kids.

Yeah, I like the News 4 Team. Jeff's voice is a bit annoying but I think it was probably the cadence of his speech with announcing the scores, etc... I like my news delivered with a bit of personality, please

Gordon Dill will actually be anchoring the weekend morning shows at WSPA starting in April.

I do not know how the Greenville/Spartanburg area news stations ranked recently. I think it was WSPA, WYFF, then WHNS. (WLOS limits itself to western North Carolina too much, leaving it with no direct competition and its exclusion.) Any news station behind in the rankings will shuffle its staff around.

Just saw Gordon Dill's first report on WSPA 5pm news. Good to have him staying in the Upstate market.

Wow.... That knocked me for a loop! I think WYFF made a mistake somewhere along the way...

I think it had more to do with timing than anything else. Connie LeGrand's departure from WSPA's 5:30 newscast provided the opportunity for Diane Derby's move to weekday evenings, which created the vacancy at weekend mornings. Meanwhile at WYFF, Geoff Hart moved to weekday mornings for stability, which allowed Gordon Dill to pursue the weekend anchor position at WSPA.

WSPA has definitely been hit hard lately. Their parent company is really struggling financially because they own several hemorrhaging newspapers, but it goes beyond that. The station recently lost its Marketing Director, HR manager, General Manager, and a few familiar faces on air, including part time anchors Rich Klintworth and Dianne Derby (if my source is correct). Veteran reporter Jonathan Carlson also left very recently. I know of other significant losses within the company.
