-$2.5 million economic impact
-16,000 to 18,000 visitors expected
-10,000+ hotel rooms at 10 different hotels reserved so far
-300 to 600 teams competing in nine to twelve year old range
Date of tournament: July 8th-31st.
Location: Games will be played from sunrise until late evening each night on 14-16 fields at Simpsonville's Heritage Park, Mauldin's Sunset Park and Greenville's Lakeside Park.
Oh and love this quote from the Greenville News: “We have a good opportunity to possibly keep this here for nine to 10 years,” Evatt said. “It's just a matter of if we can get enough fields to handle this event.”
Should be great for local restaurants and even retailers as well. I would imagine the success of the Big League World Series in Easley had something to do with this.
Then Mojo's in Simpsonville which is right next to Heritage Park should expand immediately. Seems like it's the place to be for little ball players already. Everytime I there on a weekend I see a lot of little guys in baseball uniforms.
Calling BS on this "fact". There isn't a single hotel in the Upstate with 400 or 500 rooms, much less 1000.
10 hotels x 1000 rooms per hotel = 10,000.
Just going off what the Greenville News said. Here is the actual quote from the article:
More than 10,000 hotel rooms have been reserved at 10 Greenville and Simpsonville hotels for teams, families, umpires and tournament officials who would dine, shop and visit local attractions, said Todd Bertka, vice president of sales for the Greenville Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Tournament is 24 days long. 10,000 rooms aren't booked for 1 night. Over the 24 days, that's an average of 416.6 rooms per night. That's about 40 rooms per night, at 10 different hotels. Equals, great for the local economy.

Right - I read that as meaning 10,000 room-nights. Could have been worded better.
