The last month is always a mad dash. There's numerous inspections that are required. That alone takes days and days to complete.
...but delaying an entire year??

If it's a health inspection issue, that could take months to resolve. If they need a new air filtration system and it has to be made specifically for them, that could also take months. Like I said, there's numerous things that could cause a serious delay.

Health inspection issue or an air filtration system... which you're suggesting they had no idea what to expect on either. Let's give them some credit. This isn't their first rodeo. They're not a clumsy start up business. They've been up and running for 24 years.

Furthermore, this isn't their first operation. They know what's required and needed to run their business smoothly.
Well, I am in the business.

We walked away AFTER 3 YEARS and $80 MILLION on a pharma retrofit. It happens.

And ... like Amy's ... this was not our first rodeo either.

BTW ... I predict that Amy's will never manufacture in this plant.

The jobs are gone. Moved to other facilities.

I hope I am wrong, but ....

Never said this was their first rodeo. Things DO in fact happen ALL the time in construction. It has nothing to do if this is your first building or your 100th building. If this wasn't about 700 jobs, you'd never know!

There are TONS of things that come up in construction that you do NO know about until you've gutted everything and even sometimes until you start the rebuild process. Who knows what's been hiding? There could be a massive mold situation which would be a HUGE health issue. There are so many different issues it could be. Put a few together and now you're spending millions you didn't plan for to correct a situation. At some point, a company has to step back and decide if it's worth the cost.

Just because we're just now hearing about this doesn't mean there haven't been issues along the way. They could have hit another road block and decided it was time to reevaluate.
