If we're going to do this, we're going to do it right. Former Circuit City at Point leased to REI. Bids go out April 18th.

Wow, this is amazing news - the Circuit City vacancy/temp stores have been an eyesore - REI is fantastic - I frequent the one in Greensboro, NC quite often - congrats Greenville!

Now, the Point needs to work on the old Doc Chey's space (at the other end) - isn't that still vacant?

Major sporting goods stores in that area (I-85 @ Woodruff Road)...

Academy Sports + Outdoor, Dick's Sporting Goods, The Sports Authority, and now REI.

Yet another one of the tenants that had plans for Magnolia going elsewhere.
Trader Joes, Apple, Camille's, now REI. Great news though! First REI in South Carolina.

A little bit more info:

21,545 square feet in size. The rest of the Circuit City space on the side closest to Whole Foods Market will be closed off for additional retail just like with what Academy did to the old BJ's space where Trader Joe's is now located. I don't know if REI will be one or two floors. Granger Construction Company Inc is the contractor.

Sound like one floor.

Do you have the old site plan for The Point when it was being built? It would list the square footage for Circuit City.

Yep...that's what i'm thinking. Was hoping for two floors. Oh well. Beggars can't be choosers. Circuit City space is 35,034 square feet.

Just having REI in the same center with Whole Foods. That is a big win.

REI is very selective in locating and expands slowly as a company. Greenville will join only 6 other southern metros (excluding VA) with REI stores: Nashville, Atlanta, Asheville, Charlotte, Greenboro/Winston Salem and Raleigh/Durham.
