I keep getting mixed answers anywhere from 2 hours to 3-4 hours. Which ones as well?

You are not going to make it to any beach in SC in two hours. Myrtle Beach is about 3.5 hours if you catch the traffic right. Charleston beaches will be about the same if you are going to Isle Of Palms. Folly Beach would be a bit longer.

What southern suburbs would be closer?

If you're looking for a lake they are closer than 2-3 hour trips.

The Charleston beaches are the closest. I'd say average is 3 to 3.5 hours depending on traffic and your starting and ending points. Add around an hour or so to make it to Myrtle Beach from the Greenville area.

Fountain Inn is going to be the closest suburb to the beach in Greenville County. Charleston area beaches will be closer to Greenville than Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head.

Definitely 3 hour minimum to any actual coastal beach. My wife misses the beach in FL but we make up for it by jet skiing and water skiing on lakes nearby (there are multiple lakes within 30-45 min).
