Default Visiting Greenville...Where to go?

My wife and I are looking to move to this part of the country and this is one of the places high on our list. Where is the best place to live? We dont mind if it's in the country. We are trying to get a game plan together for our visit, and we wont have much time to look around. I know I can get the help we need here.

That depends on your priorities. Do you want to be in an urban area? Suburban? Rural? Are school districts important to you? Are you looking for a new home, would you rather have something 100 years old, or do you want something in between? Do you want to have a big yard, a small yard, or a condo with no yard?

Give us some more information and someone on this board will have some good recommendations.

We like the idea of rural but it may be hard to find a rental in that type of setting. We will be looking to rent with trying to buy land to build on in the future.

In most of Greenville County the latter part of October into early November. In the mountains, a couple of weeks earlier.

Look up Table Rock State Park. We just spent a week in a real log cabin, made by hand by the CCC in 1935. They have heat, A/C, full kitchen, and gorgeous surroundings.

You might also try Pleasant Ridge County park. They have two rental cabins, which are quiet and inexpensive to rent. If you are looking for something nicer (but further away from Greenville you can rent one of the villas on Lake Jocassee at Devils Fork State Park.

A much higher-end option is the La Bastide Inn, part of the Cliffs Communities.

For cabins that are not associated with state or county parks, here are a few sites:

Polk County NC Cabins

The Pine Crest Inn in Tryon, NC, also in Polk County.

A couple of rental cabins in Travelers Rest.

Some cabins near Caesars Head State Park (a little north of Travelers Rest).

Some cabins near Cleveland SC (even closer to Travelers Rest).

I hope this helps.

Falls Park, Downtown Greenville, Paris Mtn. Caesars Head, Table Rock, Hwy 11 Cherokee Scenic Highway, then up 25 or 26 to the parkway in Asheville.

You can take 11 or 14 to 26, it is an Interstate, but the views are absolutely beautiful.

If you go 25 go through Flat Rock and Hendersonville.
